Labor Relations

The NM NECA represents its members in contract negotiation and administration with IBEW Local Union No. 611. The association is party to the Labor Relations Task Force, a joint labor management group, which meets monthly to discuss issues of mutual importance to the NM NECA and IBEW Local Union No. 611. Members receive the NM NECA Labor Relations Book to assist with their understanding of labor relations issues. The NM NECA also partners with the IBEW Local Union No. 611 in the areas of public relations and community service.

Information

The Association attempts to keep its members fully informed on industry activities, trends and advances through the distribution of various publications. Members receive periodic newsletters from both the local and national associations (newsletters such as the PULSE, NECA News, Contractor’ CodeLetter, NECA Marketing, and NECA Project Management), Electrical Contractor magazine, and research materials developed through the Electrical Contracting Foundation. Further, the NM NECA subsidizes its members’ cost to purchase NECA-developed and/or industry-related materials.

Government Relations

The NM NECA represents the interests of its members through its involvement with legislative and regulatory matters. The NM NECA serves as an electrical construction industry liaison with, among others, the NM Department of Labor, the NM State Apprenticeship Council and the NM Construction Industries Division.

Industry Relations

The NM NECA is an active participant in the Business and Labor Workers’ Compensation Coalition, Southern States Alliance for Fair Competition, BUILD New Mexico, New Mexico Development Foundation, and the industry partnering committee with the Public Service Company of New Mexico.

Training

The NM NECA is committed to the development and implementation of apprentice, journeyman, technician and contractor continuing eduction. The NM NECA is a sponsor of the Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for the Electrical Contracting Industry which is primarily responsible for apprentice, journeyman and technician education. The association subsidizes its member’s cost of participation in safety training education performed through Safety Counseling, Inc., maintains a video library on management and safety related topics, and sponsors seminars relative to all phases of the electrical contracting industry.

Marketing

The NM NECA supports its members in the marketing of their services through distribution of the Electrical Design Library, a periodic technical monograph geared for the design community, participation in the Construction and Architectural Suppliers Show (CASS) and the Plant Engineering Maintenance and Industrial Show (PEMI), promotion of the NECA Connection contractor referral database, and various chapter-sponsored directed advertising campaigns.
